Green Group statement in response to recent tragic incidents in the local area

8 November 2018

On Tuesday night a young boy, 16 years old, was murdered in Tulse Hill. Police officers were fired at with a gun and stabbing victims have presented at hospital A&E overnight. This follows the tragic murder of a young man at Clapham Tube station, automatic weapon discharge in Gipsy hill where 3 were injured, a gun discharge in Vasall and a young boy murdered in Bellingham - all in the past week.

We would like to express our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and our wishes and hopes for a full recovery for those in hospital.

We are aware that the police are increasing their patrols and that different authorities are working closely together. We understand many witnesses are apprehensive about coming forward out of fear. However please do spread the message that you can report anything to Crimestoppers (tel: 0800 555 111) anonymously, and it is definitely not a part of the police or council.

We have written to the Leader of the Council to discuss how we can work together to make Lambeth a safer place for everyone. We will endeavour to represent the voices of all those affected by street violence.
